Maine Striper Fishing report July 18th, 2013
we're halfway through the month of July and the Kennebec Region continues to impress...Today I had a first time striper anglers Mark & Kristy Roberts from Atlanta, GA aboard for some great light tackle action...Departing the Kennebec tavern at 5 am we cruised down river and out into the Atlantic Ocean...Our first goal was to load the baitwells with mackerel which we accomplished in short order...next stop was to get setup on an Oceanside sand flat that that has been holding some nice stripers...the wait was short and the fish were large as we wasted little time in putting several nice stripers into the boat with light spinning gear...Live & Chunk mackerel seem to be what's working best in the river and out off the beaches...Fly & Artificial lures work well in periods of low light but once the sun gets up the fish do not respond nearly as well.
