Maine Striper Fishing Report August 1st, 2012

This morning I had a crew aboard that fishes with me a couple of times a year during this week in August...We left the Marina dock in Bath under the cover of darkness with a light rain falling and cruised downriver to a shallow flat that has been holding some fish....The first cast with a chugger drew a huge strike and hookup followed by a second hook up courtesy of a striper that annihilated sebile magic swimmer(that was a gift from my clients yesterday...thank you Steve!!) to complete the double header hookup...both fish were in the 30" range...a few more casts and we stowed the rods and headed out to fill the livewell with macks which we came to the boat quite easily...another short run with a blacked out live well and we were on some productive grounds where we had several violent bone jarring strikes but didnt get tight to a fish for one reason or another...after severeal swings & misses we decided that our luck WOULD change at the next spot, and it did, here we finished up the trip with style on some big fish smashing outr live macks in crystal clear shallow water!!!...yes the fishing is pretty good right now!!!

It's those "for whatever reason" they wouldn't hook up (at first) is the reason we fish day after day. Of course, you're never detered Captain and once again produced beauties. Amazing sport...Amazing knowledge...
