Maine Striper Fishing Report September 17th, 2012

(Dennis & Ray with a stack of 80 tagging data cards...WOW!!)
The fishing in the Kennebec is very good right now...actually that might be a bit of an understatement!! Striped Bass tagging GURU, Dennis Kelly from Sag Harbor NY was back abaoard today, joining us was Ray Paradis...both have fished with me several times..We departed the dock just before sunrise and went straight for a spot that has been a great producer during both tides...it took us a few drifts to get dialed in but we were soon into the stripers pretty steadily...as the tide slacked and began its flood stage we jumped from spot to spot scoring a few fish at each spot...as the tide really began to rip we stopped at a spot that I had prospected a few days ago with great luck...this stop would be different....the first drop of the jigs were slammed immediately and we had 3 fish on deck awaiting tag & release while Ray & I dropped our jigs back down and they were immediately crushed by hungry stripers...drift after drift resulted in immediate double hook ups and a frantic tagging pace...when the dust cleared we had tagged 80 stripers and had well over 90 hook ups...A tremendous day on the water that pushed Dennis's career tag count to over 13,400 fish. Thanks Again Dennis!!! And a special thanks to Ray who served as back up capt, mate and fish slayer...we would not have been able to tag that many with out you!!!
