Maine Saltwater Fishing Report Aug 5th 2009

Today, 08/05/09, I had another outstanding Striper trip on the Kennebec river. Joining me were Steve Tirrell & Chris Lambert...both had mentioned that they had never really had much luck fishing...mostly skunk trips...an hour later a very happy Steve was bragging that he'd already caught more fish on this trip than in his whole life...we were just getting started I said!!!...check out a few of the pics from their trip today.

Yesterday, 08/04/09, I did a Tuna trip with Stan Lupo and friends...dungeon thick fog really hampered the top water tuna search...so we set out the pattern and trolled for several hours around the ledge raising only one or two small fish....without having a real shot at either....Tuna fishing urned into Tuna Wishing, which was super disappointing...We originally had set a plan B of bolting down to the Kennebec for some Striped Bass fishing but it was getting late and I had to see the eye Doc that afternoon(not fun)....We went to plan C instead...we decided to drop butterfly jigs for ground fish....the drops resulting in many, many small cod coming over the rail...not exactly the quarry we set out for but fins nonetheless!!!

08/03/09 I had ESPN VP of Programming, Scott Guglielmino and his two kids aboard for a trip down the St. George river...It was mackerel mayhem as the youngsters pulled on feisty horse macks on ultra light gear for a couple of hours...we then tried to raise a few bluefish for the next hour before calling it quits and heading in to the dock with two tired and happy children...fun times!!!
